REALLY I WILL
So HL Art (like AP, but more intense) is going great, I have good grades and my teachers really like me. I finished our first piece, which I'll post on here as soon as possible. Second piece, a paper cut of a quote from Jimi Hendrix is coming up, and then we're assigned a self-portrait. I have ideas for that, but I'm not sure if me having the idea, setting up the shoot, and then 'posing' counts? We don't have too many photographers in our class, one kid who does CG and graphics. But if it happens, it'll be cool. Yeah.
This class is really interesting, our first assignment we had these very strict planning guides that I completely disregarded after I got my idea. That's how I tend to work, in a blast of inspiration, but now i have to write it out, make thumbnail sketches and color studies. The first two years of art at my highschool are very technical, we didn't have much free studio time since we were learnign different point perspective and color theory, as well as other elements. Now, we've had almost all of November dedicated to studio time aimed at an independant project with no guidelines. FUCK YEAH. It's also cool to see what other people in my class are making. The only thing is I wish our critiques were stricter. After our first critique, the teacher pretty much said "wow, good job everyone!" and then offered a more private, harsher criticism for anyone who wanted. Mine wasn't done at the time, so I'll ask for a better critique this time.
I haven't drawn as much. I should probably get on that. But I like being able to experiment with paper cutting, pen and ink, acryllics, and watercolors. It's a nice change of pace, but now whenever I sit down to draw I have no motivation or inspiration. Hopefully that changes soon.
